PRESENT SIMPLE

 

USES:

1. To describe repeated actions, habits and routines.

e.g: We eat Italian food every weekend.

e.g: She goes to school at nine o'clock.

 

2. To describe facts that are always or nearly always true.

e.g: I live in Córdoba.

e.g: He doesn't spaek Polish.

 

3. To describe how the speaker feels, thinks or likes.

e.g: He thinks that Mandarin is a very interesting language.

e.g: My parents feel really proud of me.

e.g: Do you like Brazilian music?

 

 

GRAMMAR STRUCTURES

 

AFFIRMATIVE:

 

 

Subject +                verb             + complements.

            (3rd p. sing.: verb+s,es,ies)

 

NEGATIVE:

 

Subject +      auxiliar      + verb + complements.

             (don't /doesn't)   (B.F)

 

INTERROGATIVE:

 

   Auxiliar      + subject + verb + complements + ?

TIME EXPRESIONS WITH PRESENT SIMPLE:

 

  • Every day / week / month / year / summer... / Monday... / January... / morning...

  • Three times a day... / a week...

 

ADVERBS OF FREQUENCY WITH THE PRESENT SIMPLE

They always go before de verb except with the verb "To be" and "To have" that go after these verbs.

e.g: I always meet my friends at weekends.
